Cancer - Decreasing the Odds
There are a bajillion things that cause cancer that you are
exposed to every single day. You eat, drink, breath, or otherwise come in
contact with hundreds of things that given the right conditions,
can turn into cancer.
The important part of that statement is -
given the right conditions.
Take for example a recent
headline - HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM IN DRINKING WATER CAUSES CANCER IN LAB
ANIMALS
Pretty scary stuff, right?
Calm down. Buried deep
within the press release was this sentence - "The lowest doses given to
the animals in the study were ten times higher than what humans could
consume from the most highly contaminated water sources identified in
California."
10 times more than a human could consume! Of course
they're going to get sick. So you'd better be careful the next time you
are about to drink 80 glasses of the most polluted water in California ;-)
Lets take a realistic view of the world of cancer.
Now,
I'm no doctor, but it certainly seems to me that there are 2 things
happening.
Problem #1- We are exposed to more pollutants in
the air and water. We are exposed to unnatural chemicals in increasing
amounts in all of the packaged foods we eat- and more are being found in
the natural food too.
Problem #2 - Your body is weaker and
unable to fight off all this bombardment because you are undernourished.
So we have more offense, but your defense is on the injured list.
Doesn't make for a very good game, does it?
Improving your defense has to be your number one priority.
You have to do your best to make sure you are getting all of the nutrients
you need, get enough sleep, and get a little exercise every day.
You can't do that sitting on the couch eating fast food. Besides,
I can't find too much that's more boring than that. Terrible food, and
terrible TV. What a life.
That doesn't mean you have to be some
kind of food saint. It won't kill you to eat something labeled "bad for
you" when the rest of your diet is in order. Your body is strong enough to
fight off the incidental 'slips'.
But when you continually feed
your body foreign chemicals and you don't give it the foods it needs to
fight off the effects, and you don't get at least a little exercise to
keep your body strong, and you don't get the sleep you need for your body
to repair, you are creating the right conditions for serious
disease.
Just like those lab rats - your body can only take so
much. Don't wait another day. Start taking care of your body
now.
And did you know - the same
healthy diet that will help you lose weight will also help you prevent
heart disease, type II diabetes, and cancer, and will keep you young,
vibrant and full of energy far longer than your peers.
Picture this - A lot of what you're
eating is produced by scientists wearing white lab coats, mixing chemicals
in beakers until they resemble food. And it's messing up your
body, BIG TIME.
The good news is…It Can Be Fixed!
When you feed your body the right types of foods and nutrients, it
heals itself, it maintains it's weight where it was designed to be,
everything functions perfectly. It's beautiful!
What happens to
your car when you don't give it the right fuels? It breaks down, right?.
The same thing happens to your body.
But now

Really? How
about savoring some of these delicious healthy dinners -
Juicy,
flavorful, sizzling steak - cool crisp lettuce topped with Craisins,
walnuts, and a red wine vinaigrette dressing, a baked potato, and some
fresh sweet canteloupe. Takes about 15 minutes to prepare for 2. 20 or so
minutes for 4.
Chicken teriyaki, coconut pineapple rice, fresh
green beans steamed just right and lightly coated with just the right
amount of butter, and topped off with some fresh juicy pineapple. Takes
about 20 minutes to get it on the table.
Pasta with a pesto-basil
tomato sauce - prepared fresh, a cool crisp lettuce topped with juicy
tomatoes, a bit of onion for a little bite, and a tart Italian dressing
and fresh ground black pepper, with some French bread served with olive
oil and parmesan cheese for dipping, and some fresh sweet strawberries.
Takes about 35 minutes to get it to the table.
A pork chop,
delicately seasoned with garlic and Italian seasoning, a baked sweet
potato, glazed baby carrots, and a sweet crunchy broccoli salad. If you
make the broccoli salad the night before, this dinner takes about 15 - 20
minutes.
Should I keep going? OK …
Chicken wraps with
refried beans, cheese, cool crisp lettuce, and juicy tomatoes, with black
olives for fun, and sweet cool watermelon.
The point is - you've
been robbed.

Why would you
listen to me?
Good question. Well, I'm going on 52 years young.
I've never been hospitalized except for childbirth. I'm rarely sick. I
take no medications. I'm a size 4. I don't follow any special
diet.
I did get up to a size 12 once, and had high blood pressure.
I was disgusted with my body, and a little freaked out to have such high
blood pressure in my early 30s. Can you relate?
Did I take drugs
for high blood pressure? Nope.
Did I go on a special diet? Nope.
I just started eating right - well - mostly. But that's good
enough. You'll see. You don't have to be a saint, or follow the health
police icky recommendations. That's not fun.

Most
people my age are already taking prescription drugs that they’ll be on for
the rest of their lives - yet - I run
circles around my 16 years old daughter. Oh, she's pretty healthy. Could
be better, but I didn't 'get it' when I was her age either. But she's a
pretty good eater, and she's always encouraging her friends to be
healthier. At least she has the training on eating healthy that I didn't
have then. And now you have access to it too!
Funny thing is - her
dad is a hypochondriac and a poor eater. He's actually a good cook, so
there' really no excuse - but anyway… She has experience on both ends of
the spectrum!
Sometimes it comes down to laziness and
complacency.
I know I don't always 'feel' like cooking
when I get home. But the thought of eating that packaged garbage really
turns me off - and I don't want to 'feel' like garbage when I'm through
eating. And it's not any faster. It's all just commercial brainwashing.
Pay attention to how long it really takes the next time you make one of
those packaged meals. Then ask yourself -Why?
Why are you eating food that
tastes bad, is bad for you, and isn't any faster to
prepare?
Think about it.
You treat your car, your house, your pets, and your
friends better than you treat your body. Isn't that crazy?
Without
a healthy body - nothing else really matter much, does it?
Isn't
it time you started enjoying a higher quality of life?

Eat better food - better for you AND better tasting

Be sick less
J
Have more energy
J
And look great!
This isn't about some weird fad
diet, or counting calories or points, or starving yourself or any of that
other unhealthy stuff that no one can keep up with for long.
This is about eating healthy for life.
No
more diets - OK?
The hardest part will be changing your
habits. But once you start looking and feeling better, the choice will be
