It stinks, doesn't it? You get home from work, and you have no energy or motivation left to live the other half of your life. But it doesn't have to be that way.

There's a ton of information, and misinformation about healthy eating out there. Its nearly impossible to know what and who to believe. That's why I wrote High Energy Eating. You see, it all started as a labor of love...

My daughter was a preemie. She was born at 27 weeks because I had an RH problem. She spent 5 ½ months in the hospital. I already knew that you could control your health through diet. I was already interested in the topic, but I had only half-heartedly applied it in my life. Now it was much more serious. I really wanted to give my daughter the best possible start in life. Because she had a tracheotomy, she would always be susceptible to respiratory problems. And in general, I didn't want her to suffer from the confidence and cruelty issues that overweight children are subject to.

Oh, and I wanted to lose the weight this time. I had lost a baby 10 years before, and it took me 2 years to lose most of the weight. This time it just fell off so fast that people thought I was sick.

And my life was going to require superhuman amounts of energy.

We had just moved into a new house, and there was a lot of work still left to do. My daughter came home with the trach, and equipment, and daytime nursing so I could continue to work.

Then my mom was diagnosed with cancer. My grandfather was in and out of the hospital the last few years of his life, and my grandmother didn't drive. My family was an hour away. I would drop my daughter off at my friend's house, and go take care of things for my mother, and then my grandparents. Plus taking care of my own home, and my daughter, and working full time.

My good friend who was really my only support through all of that had tons of health problems. I was always looking for solutions for her problems. She never would listen until she had adopted a baby. When she started having bad behavior problems, my friend finally listened. She would try anything, even healthy eating. What she found was not only did the behavior problems go away, but her problems with diabetes and blood pressure improved because she was eating healthier too. And she's dropped a bunch of weight as a side benefit.

To make a long story short: by the time my daughter was 5, she had her reconstructive surgery, I had been divorced twice (remarried on the rebound – bad), my mother and my grandfather had both died, I went bankrupt, changed jobs, and we moved. Can you imagine?

I had my daughter in all day kindergarten, and she had to be in before school and after school care. Then there was dinner, and homework, and her friends (we always had a house full of kids), and housework, and laundry. Without a healthy diet, we never would have been able to keep up with that schedule. It went on like that for years.

My daughter was prone to seasonal asthma problems. She pretty much got sick every fall, every January, and again every spring. I worked really hard to fortify her. Finally we were able to go over 2 years without a visit to the doctor. The doctor even pronounced her asthma free.

One summer, my daughter had stayed at her dad's for a month or so. While she was gone, she put on 14 pounds. Within a few weeks of coming home – she had lost it again. The really good news is once you start eating healthy, you see results quickly.

While my daughter is in high school, she's living at her dad's, and now I'm the weekend parent. She has her asthma problems back again. I'm so frustrated... We both can't wait for her to be home again and healthy.

The point of telling you all of this is that you can improve most of your health problems when you eat a healthy diet – and you'll maintain your healthy weight without dieting. Unfortunately, when you stop eating healthy, your health problems will return – and so will the fat.

I'm going on 53. I wear a size 2. I've never been hospitalized except for childbirth, and I take no meds. I have had a little bit of high blood pressure from time to time, and control it with diet and exercise. With the immense amount of stress in my life, its a wonder I haven't had a heart attack. But I stay diligent about eating healthy, and so far I'm winning. I can't imagine having to pay out hundreds of dollars for prescriptions every month. That scares the heck out of me.

When I started writing High Energy Eating, it started out to be a book about avoid the simple everyday diseases that everyone we know seems to be dealing with – type II diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, and of course, weight loss. But it kept growing.

It took me a couple of years to write this ebook.

There were foods to help allergies, and asthma, and arthritis, and the list kept growing.

Then I would stumble upon a piece of information like to help this condition you need these vitamins – so I would go off on a search for what foods have those vitamins.
