Who
is the Master of Your Body? For
many, it’s family. You eat the way your family eats. The same body shape
will run in a family, not because of heredity, but because everyone eats
the same. For
many, it’s commercial advertisers. They fill you with the desire for great
taste, or being cool. Of course, it rarely tastes as good as they
promised. And if being fat and sick is cool – well… The
truth is, very few people take any time to consider the benefits or
consequences of what they eat. It is a rare person who is the Master of
their own body. Think about it
How
many people do you know who don’t eat fast food or packaged
foods? How
many don’t drink soda pop? How
many eat plenty of fruits and vegetables everyday? Not
many, right? And
most people think that the people who do eat healthy are freaks,
right? Admit it. I live with the comments every day. You think I’m a
freak. Let
me turn the tables here –
Are
you overweight? Are
you too tired in the evening to enjoy life for a few
hours? Are
you taking medications? What
do people think when they’re walking behind you? What
do people think when they look at your kids? When
you go to an interview, what does your body say about you? Does it say
‘lack of control and unmotivated?’ That’s pretty mean!
OK,
you think I’m getting cruel here – but I’m telling you the truth. The
conversations about people walking by are often not
pretty. “Oh
my gosh, did you see THAT?” “How
can they do that to their kids?” “How
do people let themselves get like that?” I
even hear fat people commenting about other fat people! Talk about the pot
calling the kettle black… (that’s a very old saying meaning you have no
room to talk) You know it's true. But
here's a little understood truth -
Did
you know that your body self-regulates? At least if you’re giving it the
right nutrients it does. It will maintain proper weight, fight disease,
give you energy, help you run, jump, think and see clearly, and look young
and healthy. So
why isn’t your body doing those things?
The
key is to give your body the right nutrients. It has to have the right
fuels to operate without breaking down – just like your car.
If
you’re filling your tank with chemicals and toxins and fats and
overloading it with sugar – it can’t function right. The parts start to
break down. But you’re not giving it the right fuels to prevent the

change at all. That
